Kansas City Royals pitcher Luke Weaver is inspiring others with the way he brings his Christian faith into his game to help him handle the pressure that comes with his career. According to The Christian Post, Weaver plays baseball using his ‘Bible Glove’ which has three Bible verses written on it along with other meaningful biblical symbols. In an interview with Sports Spectrum, Weaver shared that he wants to express who he is when he is in the heat of the competition on the field, and his special glove reminds him of his faith and helps him play the game.

According to The Christian Post, “the glove, made by the company Aria, features a cross, a crown of thorns, the phrase ‘His Glory,’ and three Bible verses: Philippians 4:13, which reads, ‘I can do all this through him who gives me strength;’ Matthew 19:26, which states, ‘With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible;’ and 1 Corinthians 16:13, which reads, ‘Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.’” According to Aria, the company that sells the glove, is meant to “keep you motivated during the game knowing He is behind you.” They write, “this is a big league game ready model, co-designed and used by pro baseball player and 1st round draft pick, Luke Weaver.”

Weaver explained that the pressure to play well is intense, but turning to faith and trusting God helps him persevere through it all. Weaver shared that he hopes more kids will wear a glove like this to help them rely on their faith and express themselves. He knows that if someone expresses interest, wearing his ‘Bible Glove’ may start positive conversations that could help people find what they may be looking for in life.

In using this special glove, Weaver is reminding all that their faith does not need to be hidden, but can be expressed in different ways. For Weaver, having these particular Bible verses and biblical symbols in his glove gives him the confidence, faith, and pride that helps him play the game. Facing pressure, especially that of Major League Baseball, can be daunting, but remembering to trust in God and seek faith while on the field is a real game changer.
